Adaptive Planning was founded in 2003 to provide a SaaS-based CPM solution. We were designed and have been delivering and supporting our service as a cloud-based, SaaS solution from the beginning. We were the first true SaaS CPM solution on the market.

Our solution is multi-tenant, meaning we serve multiple customers, or tenants, from a central location. Our customers are partitioned in a manner that prevents one from impacting another's operations or accessing another's information. Security is integrated into the service. Our multi-tenant solution means that we allow multiple, diverse customers to share computing resources, which allows for economies of scale, and results in a low cost to our customers. And our customers enjoy the other benefits of a SaaS solution: fast deployments that require no technical or programming skills, frequent upgrades, and the fact that we’re low risk – you can try our application with a free trial, and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.

In contrast, some vendors provide software designed many years ago, as an on-premise, single-tenant solution, now simply running in a third-party data center and accessible over the internet. This is not the same as a true SaaS solution. Forrester Research has created a term they call “Cloud Washing” – which they define as software vendors taking old products and dressing them up in modern new cloud computing clothes. They provide a fraction of the benefits of modern, multi-tenant cloud-native systems.

Our speed of development of new capabilities allows us to deliver major new versions four times per year.
